Yes. The egr serves to reduce combustion temperatures as well as reducing emissions. This can prevent detonation. It would be a very rare case, however, that blocking it actually did cause problems.

lol dont beat yourself up to badly. I have my EGR blocked off I wasnt sure if it would be a problem. Especially with carbon buildup in the chambers and exhaust.

my digital egr valve sometimes backfires when rev dropping in neutral. i think one of the bolts broke and half of it is sitting inside the thread If i cant find a replacement at a junkyard, i could just block it off and everything *should* be alright?
