hard cold starting
Alrighti hear al ot of these questions, but I just wanna make sure its the same thing as everyone elses problems. I got an 88 iroc with the 305 and everytime its cold, it has a hard time starting up. Sometimes i smell gas so i turned the fuel presure down to about where i think its supose to be and that didn't do anything. So i started searching and i saw a bunch of people talking about the cold start valves so i went to autozone to check one of these out but they don't have em. Would this be one of the problems? It seems like once it gets started its ok but it takes a while for it to start up. Thanks for the info.

what kind of induction system do you presently have on it. Not sure when they changed this but the older tpi's had a cold start injector that was used to provide extra fuel on cold startup. W.o it working, the engine would just crank and crank w/o firing because there wanst enough fuel. From what you describe, it sounds as though its flooding out. When it gets real cold out, my tbi will catch and then promptly stall and flood if i dont slightly crack the throttle blades open. Dont exacly know for sure why but its done this ever sice day one even with the old 305.

I have the TPI in mine, and when it does eventually start up it runs real lean. I can't seem to find the cold start injector in the auto part stores though. Any thoughts?

first, turn your fuel pressure back up to what it was or should be stock and try replacing the cold start injector if it has one. Im not sure which stores carry the injector. Your best bet would be to go to a dealer or a retailer that specializes in gm parts. Im sure they still have the injectors in stock somewhere.
