Gas tank strap foam material?
I need some new foam for the gas tank straps, and I cant find it anywhere. I've found the actual straps, but they are ~$40, which is way too much to spend if I dont need the whole thing. Will any flexible foam material I can get at a craft store or fabric store work? Thanks!

It needs to be something that won't dissolve in gasoline... styrofoam, anything with styrene such as ABS (amorphous butyl styrene), etc. will not work.
They used to use something that was more like roofing felt... you might want to look at materials like that.

Hmm. I found that kind of material at www.gastanks.com, so I may just go ahead and order that then. Thanks for the info!
