I run nothing but AC/Delco plugs That is what GM put in and that is what I replace them with. Splitfire plugs are overrated. Dont waste your money on them. Rememeber. alsos double check the gap of the plugs before installing them. Never trust the previous persons inspection

AC delco or something similar. Don't bother wasting your money on splitfire gimmick plugs. Let the r1cers do that so they can say they got 10hp from it.

I'm with everyone else. Run AC/Delco If they are good enuff for GM they're good enuff for me. Everything on my car including Filters and all are original GM. I guess if GM made gas,.....I'd put that in there too.

AC rapidfire sell well down at advance. AC Delcos sell like hotcakes tho. Even ford guys sometimes buy AC delcos. But if motorcraft is in stock the ford guys jump on that ****

Ive been running those expensive accel header plugs...screw that next time im going with the good ol R43TS delcos.

Delco's if the price is right, lol
Anything that has copper and one electrode works best for me.

Rapidfires are AC Delco's platinum plugs. They were in LT1s and L99s from the factory and were said to be good for 100k, thats why i run them.

I'm running Rapidfires. My old Bosch Platinums ran better for the short time they had before they got all messed up...ignition is too hot, fouled the suckers in 2 weeks flat. STOCK IGNITION! But so far it's been a few weeks and the Rapidfires are running great...thing doesn't hesitate on a cold engine or anything anymore. Only thing is they're pricier plugs.

I'm running msd ignition and using bosch platinum plugs. Runs fine. Delcos are just a bit too long for my headers.

Well, from the people I've talked to they told me before I even put them in that Platinums are the wrong temperature range and my ignition will burn them up. Put them in...ran better than ever for the first week. Then it started to get rougher..and rougher..got worse and worse until it ran the same as it did when I had the old fouled plugs on. So I swapped them out and put in Rapidfires at the same time that I put my Taylor SpiroPro's on. I checked my plugs out...around the electrodes there were small burn marks going from the center out, and all around the outside of the plug were scorch marks. (Not on the ceramic)

AC Delco. I've had similar experiences are previously described with the bosch platinums.

But I've had excellent luck with the platinums in other cars.

I use Motorcraft in my Bronco with excellent results.

Funny, as with many parts, the cheapies are best. Aftermarket companies spend millions upon millions to convince us otherwise!

Well..Rapidfires definitely arent cheap! My Bosch standard platinums were about $2 each..the Rapidfires are at least double that.

Most all plugs are of decent quality today. just about any manufacturer will provide good service life with modern electronic ignition. AC, Bosch, NGK and a host of others are good choices. It's kind of like what is the best oil. It's all in the mind of the user.

G0d I hope you didn't just start an oil argument... Lol...those get vicious. I use..whatever the shop gives me. Or if I buy it myself...eh, whatever's on sale. I don't take the best care of this motor to begin with, so why be a hypocrite and spend money to give it premium oil? Walmart oil! Halelujah to Super Tech! When I get the money the car is getting a 350 with a TH350 or rebuilt 700-R4 anyways, so...no worries for me. The good old 3.1's only got 106,000 on it and still ballsy as hell. Even with a bald drive tire, doing a from-idle to WOT launch and peeling out for a full 3 seconds isn't bad!!

I ran Splitfires for years, seemed to keep my exhaust smelling "better" for a longer period of time. Never expected 20 HP out of 'em, though. The concept is similar to that of a "cut" plug, where the ground electrode is cut so it ends above the center of the middle electrode, which exposes more spark to the a/f mix. Splitfires never claimed to give a split spark like some of the ricers think. If you try them, don't pay $5.95 for 'em, Splitfire dropped the price to $2.95 per plug- but most chain auto parts stores (like Pep Boys!) still charge $5.95. Summit Racing sells them for the correct price.

The same "splitfires ruined my engine" claim was also BS... those people who pulled oil-covered and fouled Splitfires from their motors and assumed the worst were just running the wrong heat range.

But I don't run them anymore. I ran them originally with an Accel remote HEI "computerized" Supercoil, and an otherwise stock ignition. I added an MSD 6AL box and MSD Blaster SS- and the splitfires hated it. The MSD system ate away the center electrode of the Splitfires. So now I'm back to stock AC plugs, no problems.

But they are more expesnive so it must be better right. Oh, and we have to pay for 8 while the ricers mostly just pay for 4.

A guy across my street has a brand spankin new 383 stroker in his Monte SS...it's just waiting on a carburetor and exhaust.... He said he might put in those Platinum +4's.... I just smiled and nodded. He's also currently got in there mostly standard issue AC Delco plugs, but I think he has one Bosch platinum in, and he said he'll probably run 7mm spark plug wire...8 or up if he feels like it. :/

I was talking about this very subject with some mustang friends the other day and we were laughing about this r i c e r who told us that he just bought some splitfires. The thing is that there can only be ONE spark. You cant have two arcs at the same time. The physics of electricity: electrons will flow the path of least resistance. How could there be two paths of "least" resistance? So that is a negative on the splitfires, oh and if you run across someone who is wondering about splitfires, if you like the person let them in on it, if you dont just smile and nod.

I understand that. I am 19 and know far from everything, but I have come into situations where someone older and more experienced has said something that I knew wasnt right and it you just dont want do disrespect them and tell them that you think they are wrong.

info

You dont ever have to tell people they are wrong. You just say "Oh I heard..... " Car people dont usually get pissed off about discussing stuff because there are better things out there and some people may have better results with a different product than they are using. I never stay quiet just to save their "feelings" if you put the right attitude on it people are thankful that you told them the $2 stuff is just a good and the "better" $50 stuff. So go ahead politely tell the guy he should not waste the money, if someone ever tells me where I can find somthing better or cheaper with the same quality Im all over it.

Yeah..this is my neighbor, house right across from mine..never talked to him before until that day. That guy's...a trip...lol.. He knows a lot about certain specific things...mainly motor installation and such....but, he doesn't know jack about other things... To each their own though...cause the guy at the end of my street is a retired Goodwrench mechanic I think and he's the one who mostly built that guy's 383...he's also rejetting and tuning the carb on it for him. I gotta get to know this guy......

Plugs

I run MSD HEI w/8mm plug wires and just put in Bosch Plat plugs, works great. My previous 92RSTBI had AC's and so did my 350TPI GTA, they both ran fine too.
