Got some weird noises coming outta this thing wondering what it is and if i need it?

 

Its part of the air injection for emissions. if u need it i dont know i've been told no

 

is the diverter valve for the AIR system (AIR = Air Injection Reaction). it pumps air into ur exhaust system to help burn unburnt fuel. The purpose of that box is to pump air into the exhaust manifolds when the ecm is in open loop (warming up). and once u reach closed loop. it diverts the air to a pipe going to the cat. If u have emissions, either visual or the sniffer. then u have to have this box. if not then u can remove it and all the hoses that goto it. just put a cap on the tube coming out of the exhaust manifolds. u might wanna check for a crack in one of the hoses coming off of it, that might be causing some sound to escape..

 

You can do away with it all if you want.

 

if you take it off just make sure you plug all ports , and weld up air ports on manifold
