I picked up the dual snorkel off the internet. I then took it to a plating shoe here in Phoenix. The other duct work I got from the local Chevy dealer. I have since added some magna braid. I will do a polished brake resevior lid and I have thought about a chrome alternator. But I am having no trouble with my alternator. If it goes out I will probably do it. Eventually I will add chrome valve covers also.

Well this will probably get locked because lack of technical content.......but.....Here's mine anyway.
Very outdated pic. Sense then I've done the following: new heads, radiator, valve cover breathers, tore out unneeded wiring along with cleaning and painting bay, new wires, and a lot more.

And you can wash your engine bay at the car wash with not trouble. Cover the distributer so it does not get too wet. With the engine nice and hot spray some degreaser around on everything. YOu can use the "gunk" type products. They work well if you have heavy grease deposits. I like to use some Simple Green at 100% strength. Its biodegradeable. So no worries there. Let the degreaser sit for a bit. Use a brush on the places that are extra dirty. Then rinse.

Some of the car wash bays can be pretty high pressure. So be careful you don't break anything. Your home garden hose also does a nice job. About once a month and you'll have one of the cleanest engine bays around.

Another thing you can do is after the engine is dry. Take some Armorall (spelling?) and mist it up in the air above the engine and let the mist fall on the engine. It makes the lines and hoses look great. However it will attract dust after a while.

Post some pics when you are done.

Later

Bill

yeha i have some of the gunk degreaser stuff. havent tried it but i might just spray it all over the engine, and engine compenents, and just lets it soak then wash off. they also have engine degreaser at the car wash i could use.

also

the master cylinder on my car is really looks rusted. the thing where u put the brake fluid is nice but that part that goes into the firewall is ****. Any ideas as to how i could make it look new?? other then paint if possible.

oh and, what are those hoses called that look "meshed" if you know what i mean. like the one that goes from the rad to the thermostat and the ones from the water pump and ****. are they expensive? i would like some of those too.

again, would i look like a ***** if i painted the power steering fluid resevoir blue and the water pump blue? or should i leave it and just clean them up really well. i guess it would help if i had a pic. sorry bout the length.

I think you refer to the stuff called Magna Braid. It's about $40. It comes in a kit to do most of the hoses in the engine compartment.

You can try sanding the brake cylinder housing. That might make it look better. And then you should paint it any color you want. After all it is your car.

i should point out that that is using a chassy dyno, it has a summit cam, 1100-04, ported/polished heads, 1.94 intake valves, cant rember exhaust, Edelbrock Preformer intake and a 600cfm carb.

and here is the dyno sheet.

Um, I hope you don't mean that the pic you attached is your only form of a dyno sheet you have, as in that's what you used to say you had a "chassy dyno"...

I said dyno sheet not screen capture. I still don't buy it! Show me a printed data sheet for the dyno run. BTW-chassis (not chassy) dyno is with the engine in the car!!

I'm not trying to be an ******* so I'm sorry if I'm coming off like one. Its just that people (especially around here) go around shooting of numbers and I'm like..What the hell! Nobody seems to have substantial proof and most of the time they are way optomistic. Well I'm done bitchin! blah blah blah....

I just took off my bracket that holds the air pump and a/c sprayed it down in the kitchen sink with oven cleaner (wife is pissed), and covered it with a trash bag waited 2 hrs. and presto the thing is actually aluminum looking. Maybe I will have time during thanksgiving to do the other bracket.

On your site it says "This is a picture of my first dyno on the program Desktop Dyno Y2K, this one didn't have all my mods entered yet. but still states a healthy 311hp and 352 TQ. not enough..."

So I'm guessing you refer to your computer screen as "they."

Well my car was hardly ever driven its whole life. Then the previous owner bought it and drove it alot. Then I got it with 64k on it. So the engine was already pretty clean. But I did spend hours getting in all the small places and polishing.

hey im sorry if i am seen as a dumb kid, i have been around chevy V8's my hole life and know a good amount, but i am always looking to learn more, i am optimistic about those numbers because DDY2K isnt always correct, but it was backed up but the dyno on my engine before i put it into my car,

anyways in january i am dynoing my car with my car club so i will have the sure numbers, but i wish i will have my 355 dont by then.

Did anyone get the joke of how the guy posted a pic of that bird or am I the only one that thought it's funny?

IROCZZ3: I like that air intake setup you have. Is it the stock airbox with that 90* elbow off the TB, or is it a whole aftermarket piece?

dude, that looks like a desktop dyno 2000 screen. for one many have found that to be inaccurate. it told me a 305 with a zz4 cam and vortec heads would make 380 HP. i am guessing that isnt going to happen. for two, DD2000 is NOT a chassis dyno, it estimates crank HP without any accesories. with stock exhaust manifolds im sure your not over 300 RWHP, do you still have the stock catalytic converter on it too? put the thing on a dyno as it is right now. something that will spit out a sheet for you. with those manifolds, i am gonna go out on a limb and say you dont have over 300 RWHP. let us know. i got no pics of my engine bay. there are a lot of the wires there that are not necessary and the damn AC is still in there i need to clean it up. then engine itself is painted gloss black. the front accessory brackets were bead blasted so they are clean and the intake was just bead blasted so its clean also

when you guys paint the engine bay, do u just take it to a paint place or what??? how do you manage to paint it? did you need to take everything out? And what the hell is bead blasting?

i would imagine they do it during the engine swap. taking out the engine is easy to do anyways, so if you really want to do it its not that big of a deal
