did i order the Right intake Help some one!!!
Ok i got a Edelbrock Intake for my 87 camaro LG4, now the intake says it will work with 87 and up heads (262-400 small block) its also a none EGR intake.
Will this intake work with my 87LG4????
I know Edelbrock makes a Intake just for the LG4, but i didn't get that one because I didn't want a stock intake with EGR.
So should I keep the intake I got or send it back and get the LG4 intake they offer???

Just wanted to confirm you did get a spread bore intake if you have q-jet carb? I didnt check out the part number, also obviously you will have to modify some vacuum lines and the sort bacuse the ports may be a little different but nothing really different. You will have no problem.

The only difference between the 2104 and the other one you're talking about (3706?) is the fact that one has EGR and the other doesn't, the shape doesn't change or anything. Any intake manifold with the '87-up bolt pattern will fit on your engine, and the one you have will work fine.

If I was you, which I am not...
I would make sure and check everything I can when you have the intake off. Such as lifters, clean out any build-up in the block and heads, check your pushrods and rocker arms as well. In fatc if you have the spare change I would replace the lifters and pushrods. I mean its not everyday you take off your intake. But that's only if you have the extra money.....let us know how it goes.

I didn't realize there was a whole conversation going on while I was writing that last post...
I have the 3706 and everything fit just fine with no rerouting or relocating of anything (with stock carb). The only problem I ran into was that my stock carb bolts were a little too long for the holes, so I put a few washers on them and it tightened down just fine. This manifold has a heater hose port in the back that I plugged with a 3/8" NPT plug. I teed off the front heater hose into the back to see if it would make a difference but I didn't notice any and plugged it back up. The front heater hose port threads are 1/2" NPT to 3/4" hose, and you might want to just get a new fitting for it if the one in your old manifold is hard to get out. When you're done installing, pour the fluid in, then run the engine closer to operating temperature with the radiator cap off and make sure it is completely full when it is warming up, then put the cap on when it really starts churning. That's very important, I didn't do this and it would overheat after about 2 miles because it had a little bit of air flowing with the coolant.

Great explanation, that is exactly what I meant to say... You may have to modify some little stuff, great reply. I guess you could also tell us if you noticed any gains with the intake?

Hey Flyway, don't suppose you have a pic of you intake with the back heater house plugged off? Also Where is the best place to get this new heater fitting and plugs.

Any auto parts store should have the heater hose fitting but it's like $7. They might also have a plug, but if they don't then any hardware store should have one. It looks like a thread with a cube on top, I used a crescent wrench to screw it in.
