Emissions Test Questions
Yesterday I had my emissions tested and I passed but I had a question about some of the numbers. My results are.
MY TEST
2500 RPM
O2 20.7
CO(%) (less then or equal to) 1.20 mine 0.35
HC(PPM) (less then or) 220 mine 36
Dilution CO+CO2(%) 6.00 mine 12.75
RPM: 2500+/-300 Test 2725
Idle Test
O2 20.7
CO(%) (less then or equal to) 1.20 mine 0.11
HC(PPM) (less then or) 220 mine 213
Dilution CO+CO2(%) 6.00 mine 12.24
RPM: 775+/-425 Test 612
What are CH's what makes them high or low. I'm alittle worried about my next test. I almost failed at Idle. Are these normal numbers and indicate a proper working motor or a problem?? Can you tell anything from this information?
Thanks for any input.

Car: 85 IROC
Engine: LB9
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42
if I remember correctly HC's are hydrocarbons in Parts per Million. Means unburt gas or oil. I am pretty sure that means you are running rich at idle. Anyone else?
Was your car at a good operating temp?

Yeah the car was definately at operating temp. They did the 2500 prm test first then the idle. My fan will not come on unless the AC is on so when I pulled into the test station I turned off the AC and by the time the test was all over the car was getting close to 220
