Solid roller cam options

So I want to do a cam change... I have the option of picking up two solid roller cams for a very fair price. One has 250 duration at .050 and .600 lift and another has 270 duration and .612 lift. I already have a 253 duration flat tappet. The car is very streetable right now. My question is... would going with a 270 duration make it much worse ? Is anybody running a cam this big in a daily driven car ? I'm gonna put this in my carburated 408 with max ported iron sportsman IIs (over 300cfm at .500 lift). What are your opinions ? Thanx

i doubt that you want a solid roller, most if not all are designed more towards racing applications, plus there is some additional cost to using a aftermarket roller.

I am running a Comp XE solid roller. The idle and driveability are excellent! Roller cam technology has come a long way.

My duration @ .050 is 248/248 but the Advertised duration is only 286/286. It's a good idea to look at both durations to give an idea of how aggressive the cam is. Of the 2 cams you are looking at, what is the advertised duration?

A 270 @ .050 sounds like a huge cam!

Honestly I have no idea what the advertised duration is... I was going to get a hydraulic roller setup but it's going to cost me almost 1000 dollars in parts. Sometime in the .240 .250 range would probably be a lot better as far as duration goes.

in retrospect i'm sorry i didn't go solid roller, the Hyd rollers are heavy and cant handle the spring pressure required to get them to reall RPM. I should be seeing valve float @ 6200 or so. The solids are lighter and can take virtually any spring pressure
