Vortec block differences?

I noticed there is a Create Vortec ZZ4 short block in the GM performance catalog, whats the difference between it and the regular ZZ4 short block?

If I wanted to use the cast iron Vortec heads, would I have to have a Vortec block? Or would any pre-LT1 SBC block work?

Car: 1988 Firebird S/E
Engine: 406Ci Vortec SBC
Transmission: TH-350/3500stall
Axle/Gears: 7.5" Auburn 4.10 Posi-Traction
The Vortec heads will bolt to any nonLT-1/LT-4 motor from1955 to
1996+. 400 blocks would require drilled steam holes in the deck face.
Vortec heads require a special Vortec style intake manifold.
