Fuel usage of a '83
Hi,
I'm planning to buy a Camaro Z28E from 1983 with a 5.0 Liter V8 Motor. Now heres my question: how much fuel will it approximatly use per 100 km? I live in Switzerland and fuel is expensive here, it costs about 1$/Liter, sometimes even more!
Thanks in advance for all answers, even if your car isnt exactly the same
Ueli

Car: 4
Engine: 6
Transmission: 5
There are 3 versions of the 5.0 motor in that year of these cars, at least in ones sold in the US, I don't know about ones exported to Europe...
Actual fuel usage varies greatly depending on the engine version, the car's condition, driver habits, etc. But typically they get about 8.5 km/l on the highway, and about 6.5 km/l in town.

Well I haven't decided yet wha motortype I'll buy, but are you sure the 8.6km/l is correct? That would be 11l/100km, which is not much more than the 2000ccm '93 VW Passat of my parents
Did you meen miles instead of km?

Car: '87 Camaro LT

it also has a lot to do with your gearing and transmission. i have a mildly built 350 with an out of tune holley carburetor, stick transmisison and a 2.73 rear end. i got 26mi/gal the other day on the highway cruising at 70mph. In the city I get about 14mpg.
also, welcome to the board!

OK, I believe it now. I just had kind of expected a 25liters/100km, but I checked some websites (no offense-I just wanted to be sure) and the numbers seem to be correct.
Thanks for welcoming me, although I will be mostly a reader I'll buy my car in a year or so
