need help with a cam selection....350 build up in progress...

350 block is gonna be punched out from 30 over to 40 over (357??)

the builder wants me to Run so JE flat top pistons... (about 600 bucks )..they will have a compression ratio of about 10

Need a cam....i need to select a cam on my own...so...i need cam help...we are going to run a hydraulic roller and i want the power range around 2500-5500..or some where around there....i want a nice lopey idle....PN will help a lot...

I need to get lifters...pushrods...valve springs...

the sportsman II heads are gonna get a little work done to them...

Ill probally see if i can get around a 675-725 CFM carb...he said that the 600 might be a little small....

Let me know what you guys think of this...i really need help with the cam selection...

THANKS!!

Car: 1988 Firebird S/E
Engine: 406Ci Vortec SBC
Transmission: TH-350/3500stall
Axle/Gears: 7.5" Auburn 4.10 Posi-Traction
I would use a Crane PowerMax Hyd Roller.
Grind #HR-284-2S-12 IG PN#119831

Go here for the specs http://www.cranecams.com/master/apps...#3.%20PowerMax

Be sure to use all the required valvetrain that is recommended for it.
Don't be shy on the porting of your Sportsman II Heads.
They come cast with huge valve guide bosses that need quite a bit of attention (streamlining) These heads will really flow once ported properly. Gasket matching your intake to these heads is critical.

Having the motor Dynoed before instalation is a good idea.
It's a good controled way to break in the motor and tune it
for max power and ensure everything is right.
Don't be over concerned with the exact power figures
but it will make 400+ streetable hp and tons of usable torque.
This cam is a great "street Performance" cam. There
are others that will make more peak hp but at a cost, street
flexability.
If your engine builder builds around the cam with the heads you plan and all the other thing needed to support it in the car,
you'll be real happy with it.

I'd recomend a 750cfm carb and a dual plane high rise intake
like the Edelbrock Performer RPM, Weiand Stealth or a Professional Products "Typhoon" intake.
I'd recomend a 2200 to 2800 stall converter and 3.73 rear gear for best performance.
A daily driver that goes like stink!

Good Luck

Car: 1986 Sport Coupé
Engine: 305-4v
Transmission: 700R4 and TransGo2
Those two cams are very similar, close to the same lift and duration. You might not notice any difference between the two.

They are both very simular. I think you'll do well with either.
