set timing with tan/black wire hooked up did i mess some thing up?

I swapped out my 305 for a zz4 with the tpi. I never set the timing on a car before so i didn't know about that black and tan wire, but anyways i adjusted my timing to 10* btdc with the wire hooked up. Could i have messed up my spark curve or anything like that ? I finaly did it right and set it with the wire unhooked, but i was just wondering if i screwed anything up and if i did is there a way to reset it and do it over or something? oh ya it does run just seems to be severly lacking in the upper rpm's i know its from the tpi but it seems like it's a little too much. I ran a 14.24 at 95mph with a 2.14 60ft in like 110 degree heat with 2.73's and street tires. its killer off the line then just stops pulling.

well it's not right that way, but you never broke anything either, just unplug it and reset the timing

Nah.......if you already reset it with the wire unplugged, then your good to go.
The wire deals with the advance, similar to setting a regular distributor with the vacuum advance plugged in.
