Alternator died...

On my ride home tonight my alternator died. I drove for at least an hour, maybe longer not sure exactly when it went out, just praying the battery would hold out, not tunes on or nothing.

So anyhow, anybody know what the hot plan for upgrading the POS CS-130 alternator is?

http://www.alternatorparts.com/cs130_&_cs130d_alt.htm

Found that with a search. The 130D sounds like a good option since it appears to be a bolt in, but anybody know for sure? Also, what cars woudl they come stock in so i knew how to order one?

Or is going to the 144 that worthwhile? Sounds more expensive, plus you need a bracket, and i thought i saw you need to grind and reclock, etc.

At this point i may just get a cheap piece from poop boys and hope for the best while i sort this out. If you know something, please post asap, i'm prolly going to call in late to work and do this then.

Just get the stock replacement alternator that comes from the local autoparts store that has a LIFETIME warrenty, gm cars eat alternators for lunch so you will use that warrenty once or twice.

The stock alternator is 105 amps as far as I know for years 88-92 so get that one.

The one I got was made by Durlast, fully remanufactered.

DON"T buy that 1 year warrenty rebuilt crap it won't last.
