valve cover breather question...

is this true, i'v heard from many people.. but if i install one of those breathers with the filter on it, like the K and N one on my valve cover, i wont burn as much blue because of the pressure not being as high now? i mean it kinna makes sense but i thought i'd ask the old boys at thirdgen.org first before i invest..

If you're burning blue then it has nothing to do with crankcase pressure. If the crankcase pressure was too high the only ill effects would be constant oil leaks. The PCV system already sucks the crankcase vapors back into the engine to be reburnt. Simply installing a filter vented to atmosphere just allows the excess pressure and gasses to vent out.

If you're burning blue then the first thing you should do is change the valve seals. They're not that hard to change. After that if the engine is still burning too much oil then budget for a rebuild.
