Engine shuts off under hard braking

Engine shuts off under hard braking
OK,
I got a new PCV valve, and check valve. Then I took off the pcv valve and put on a breather and capped the vaccum that ran to the valve cover (now I REEEALLY smell oil/exhaust). I still need to get my vaccum tested with a gauge which will happen this weekend...and get my fuel bowls tuned by my mechanic. Besides that I may need a new diaphragm, I am thinking oil might have gotten into it and screwed it up. If I need a new diaphragm, should I just get one from the ol boneyard...there's a TBI camaro there that I get parts from. Or should I just get a new one? I have no idea how much that stuff will cost, or how big of a job it is. The only thing that makes me think that its not the diaphragm is the fact that I have only been having this problem since adding the new Street avenger carb. I want to get this fixed so I can race rice knowing I can stop if need be without the engine turning off.
Thanks

Do you have the brake vaccum line running to the carb or to the manifold? When I originally had mine to the aftermarket carb I had the same problems. When I switched it to a manifold vaccum source that cured it.
