can't get steering wheel back on

The lock plate remover just bends the shaft lock(metal piece with lobes)and it cracked the plastic cover. Maybe I just didn't put it back in the correct order. I took everything out on top of the spring. Does anyone have a good picture? Also my car is a Berlinetta so I think it might be different because the turn signal switch is different.

i took off three more screws and took off a plastic thingy with wires coming from it. Under that I managed to break some yellow plastic rectangular thing that is about an inch long and has gold metal peices coming from it. What is it? Also, the metal bolt thing moves! It moves in and out almost and inch and it also moves up and down. I still can't get the round metal peice in its groove. Help!!

You're right. It is indexed. I feel like a moron. That fixes most of my problem, but the bolt that holds everything together has a lot of play in it. Is it supposed to move in and out an inch? Also what was the thing I broke. It is something electrical....that's all I know. It is hollow and has two peices of copper on either side. Thanks for the help.

i think what you're talking about breaking is for the horn, the spring should remove the play

It's hard to tell - but it sounds like you are talking about the plastic trim that accepts the signals for your cruise control. The Camaro, Z28, LT, RS, & IROC columns don't have cruise on the steering wheel and this plastic "plate" is not inside those columns.
