what gears?????
I am looking at tossing in some new gears. What ratio would be right with my setup and with a th350 tranny? Right now it is 2.73:1 and the car has no getup and go, but I need the car to be able to run the highway regularly. What ratio would be a good compromise between the two?

Your situation is exactly why I went from a th350 to a 700r4. What is your tipical cruise MPH? How many rpms can you live with at that mph? I used to have a th350/3.73 set-up--it ran 3000rpm at 60mph.

I have 3.73s and run 2500 rpm at 75mph. Its not that bad... I get 17 mpg. The only draw back is that you can't race on the highway without redlining.... if you floor it at like 75 or so it goes to 3rd and is redlined and these trannys won't shift into 4th over 2/3 throttle. Its hard to win a race if you try to keep it in fourth gear. So I only do stoplight action now and just let the mustangs cruise by me on the highway. I originally had 2.73s and my car would squeak the tires off the line... now they will go up in smoke for as long as I want... single best mod I ever did.

depends what you are doing with your car. It it is a daily driver then 3.23's or 3.42's. Should be fine. Are you going to take it to the strip? If so then 3.73's, but they will kill you on the open road with the th350.
If you do not have a external trans cooler, I would add one.
For your car I would go with the 3.42's. I think you would like it better, and it would pick you car up.
just my 0.2 cents.
good luck in choosing your gear. Just make sure it is for your carrier.
