(Video) Timing Chain: Tension...
I was installing a new timing chain on my L98 engine tonight, and it appeared to have quite a lot of slack in it. It seemed like almost as much as the old chain had when I took it off (with ~164,000 miles on it). Looks like it has about 1/4" to 3/8" of slack in it. I thought that new chains weren't supposed to have any slack--or, if it should have *some* slack, I don't know how much is too much.
Sort of hard to convey, though, so I made some videos for you to look at...

You'll have to copy and paste the links manually into your browser as Angelfire won't allow remote links.
Let me know what you think--if that's too much slack or what.
Thanks!
BTW -- I've tried these videos on Windows XP, and they worked fine with Windows Media Player for me, but your mileage may vary.
