URGENT, HELP Cooling Fans, Need Help
OK, I have to take my car back up to college today and in the recent warm temps we've been having my cooling system isn't the best.
I know the problem, I have a belt driven fan with no shroud. So, I was going to buy an electric one, but I'm not sure what would work to keep my engine cool.
I was looking at 2 Perma Cool one's,
the first one is 14" 2950 cfm part # in Jegs 771-19114
the other one is 16" 2100 cfm, # 771-19126
or 16" 2950cfm same as the first but bigger.
Can someone look at these part #s and let me know what you think will be the best.
But I measure my radiator and putting a 16" one in might not fit unless I can use the stock mounting bracktes, think I would be able too???, what about the 14" fan would that allow proper cooling.
Also the larger fan seems to have a built in shroud with it while the smaller one is more open.
Today it's cool out so I'm going to order one and install it once at school, please HELP!!!

I just called Jegs for assistance and the guy said going from mechanical to electrical I would be sacrificing cfm and just to find a way to make or get a shroud for my mechanical fan.

I just thought of that, but I'm not sure whether it will fit over my 3 core radiator, the support cover I have now barely fits. I'm goin to stop by the GM dealer now and see what they have. It's closer than a junk yard and not outside in the rain.

hey mark get the dual fan set from an IROC or the later Z's or GTA's. they work just as good as most aftermarket setups and it looks stock . besides you can buy replacement motors at a local auto parts store.

Well, here's what's goin on, my GFs parents told me to have a shop look at it since I was debating on what to do, and go from there. I already know the problem, but if they want it that way and are paying for it, who am I to argue.
I think I'm just going to order a Perma Cool Mech. Fan Hi-Perf. one, part # 771-85150 or so, and some water wetter. And we I can I'll pick up a fan shroud.
A shop is just going to tell me I need a shroud, but I'll let her parents have it their way, as you can see from my signature, they've got the money and that's how they deal with their problems, let a shop handle it, though I don't like it like that it's not my money.
If I can, I'll go to a GM dealer and see how much they want for the dual fan IROC setup.
