odometer fraud! :(

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! i've owned my car since 1997 and have had major problems ever since i bought it... ranging from t-top leaks to breaks, alternators, radiators, head gasket, master cylinder, and now rear main seal is leaking oil. I got so tired of the repairs that today I went and talked to my dad about helping me purchase a new car. He told me to put my car up for sale and see what i could get... well.. i used carfax to search for new cars and i ran my VIN just to check it out. I found that the guy i bought it from rolled it back almost 50,000 miles!!!! ::CRY:: i bought it from a guy with a dealer license... and he still works at the place i bought it. I'm just wondering if theres a statute of limitations on this and what anyone can suggest as far as lawyers and what i should tell him when i approach him about this. thoughts? below is a copy of the carfax report.

I don't think it is likely that they put 48,000 miles on the car in a year and nine months.

That's true. And I just checked out his other post, saying his odometer has 6 digits, so what I said can't apply, can it?

Yeah it's possible, my GFs mom and dad are real estate appraisers and they have to drive all around, if I'm not mistaken her mom put like 24k miles on her car in 3 months.
That's why when she got her mom's old '96 Blazer it had 212k miles on it, and still runs great, course we got in an accident the other nite, I'll post some pics when I get a chance to take them.

yes, and if you look more carefully the car was driven from California to New Jersey! :::sigh::: I just spoke with an attorney and he says it is possible i can collect up to 3 times what i payed for the car + 3 times what the repairs have cost me + punitive damages. the laws in New Jersey are very strict about this sort of thing (especially since he's a dealer)

Not to be an **** to those who replied, but it was stated that it is a mileage "decrease" not increase. Maybe they put a new guage cluster in? I think the odo goes with those. Either way, it is worth looking deeper to find the truth. May be profitable.
