what would it take me to get my 88 305 TBI to at least hold a fender on a 91 automatic mustang GT with hpipe, flowmasters, and a k&n filter...a buddy of mine has this setup and he smoked me hard...i plan on a new rear with at least 3.42 gears and posi..what next? what i have now is listed on my sig...he beat me by a good 2 cars lengths but the only thing done to my car at the time was the k&n open element

I'd vote for a new PROM, the Ultimate TBI mods, and some good plugs and wires, possibly a coil and/or distributor... An exhaust cutout wouldn't hurt either. With 3.42's you might have a carlength or two on him (assuming you have 2.73's now).

mustangs with autos are just stones. they were put upon the earth to make 6cyl f-bodies feel better about racing mustangs
the ford AOD is a terrible tranny. unless this guy has done gears(at least 4.10's) and a really big torque convertor(at least a 3500stall) he will only run 16's.
with a posi and some gear you will smack the crap out of him. if you do the ultimate tbi mods and aldl switch you will really pummel him.

16's????? You're the moderator so I don't want to flame you but that isn't even close. My dad has an 87' LX hatch with 3.23's headers, h- pipe, MAC catback, K&N with Ram Air, and shift kit with the AOD. Mind you this is a speed density setup not even mass air and I raced him at the track with my 91' Firebird LO3 this summer. He ran 14.6 and 14.57 back to back within an hour of each run. I know the car consistently runs those times cuase he's done it before. This is also a relatively stock Mustang, maybe 25-35 HP over stock, it'd still run 15- 15.3 bone stock. This is just my experience, and I've seen several Mustangs run this fast around here, a AOD Mustang is much faster than 16's. Just in case you were wondering I ran a 15.75 at 92. WHHHOOHOOOO!!!! I've got some work to do!!

I'm not too sure how terrible Mustang automatics are but I know that they are at least slightly terrible. Had a friend that got a fox-body GT back a few years ago about when I got my Camaro. There was much smack talking and we went to settle the score. I layed the smack down out of the hole and stayed out in front of him for quite a while...after some distance he pulled up and passed me. It took him quite a while though. I'd say that he was a high-15 second car at best. After he put a T-5 in it, though, it was a whole 'notha story.

EDIT: I just noticed that I forgot to mention that we were both totally stock.

no flame. there was a series in one =of the mustang rags years ago about buildign an automatic gt. they put in 4.10's, a shift kit, a big convertor, and a full exhaust and barely made 14's. the thing to remember is even if your dad's lx was full option it was at least 90lbs lighter than a GT. also, at least from what i have seen, most mustangs, including auto's usually come with 2.73 or 3.08 gears.
i have also seen first hand what a stock mustang auto looks like against blackbird305's mid 15sec car. let's just say it was ugly.
