LT1 cam + 305TBI=200HP???
Just wondering if that would put a 305 TBI over 200HP. I'm thinkin a LT1/L98 cam and Edelbrock TBI manifold and and a set of 305 Torquer heads would be good for around 250+ of mustang roastin fun.

Since when is a catback exhaust system and air filter good for 30HP. Unless you mean a full Headers to the Tailpipe exhaust system with a nice 305HO Air cleaner that is routed below for some nice ram-air. Oh and for good measure a K&N Xtreme top.

I think to get 250hp your going to have to run headers and ypipe. The stock manifolds and y pipe are TOO restrictive on TBI cars. You will see what I mean when you remove the old crap and place it beside the new stuff. GM should have done better than that.

Car weight, tuning, and many other factors play into "keeping up with so and so." You can't say because this car had 150hp and I kept up with it it had to have 150hp etc. There are cars running the exact same horsepower as me in the 1/4 yet they're in the 12's just for the fact that they have a higher stall converter and major traction!!!
These horsepower mods are worthless. You need to do 2 things if you really want to see what good it does in the 1/4: Tune your engine's air fuel ratio best you can with either fuel pressure, vac AFPR, or eprom burn. Then run it down the track and get a best mph and from THAT and weather, car weight, rear wheel drive etc, can you get an idea of what kind of gain you've made with a bolt on. I hate horsepower numbers, it might be cool to brag about but it's nothing special until you can get from point A to point B faster than the guy down the street.
Headers, open element, worked over TB unit with ultimate tb mods including AFPR, cat-back, and good old fashioned tuning. I'd say about 210hp can be made.
notice I said about, because depending on weather and altitude you'll have + or - __hp.

you will see more like 275 at the wheels once you get the heads. think of it this way, i was putting about 225hp to the wheels(mathematically) with the stock cam and 1.6 rockers. that means i had a cam with right aroudn .400 lift on each side making that kind of power. with the 450/460 lift of the LT1 cam you will get a lot more power.
one thing you will need is some custom tuning and adjustable fuel pressure. i would also sugget a holley or 454 TB and some 350 injectors to get everything out of it.
i would suggest some traction work if you plan to run the mid to low 13's that the car will be capable of.
