Stock fuel pump specs
Hi,
I need to know the max pressure in PSI and the free flow rate in GPH of a stock fuel pump for a TBI.
Can you confirm me that the in Inlet size is 3/8 and the outlet size is 5/16.
Cause in emergency I need to put an inline fuel pump to move freely my camaro for 5 miles.
I don't want to buy an expensive one cause I will replace the stock in tank pump. So i want to buy the less expensive one.

Re: Stock fuel pump specs
Not sure how much can help, as getting full specs on the stock pump isn't easy.
I do know that they top out at about 20 psi (dead-headed). They are a turbine pump so you should be able to pull fuel through it via an inline pump. As for the volume of fuel, it is low, figure that the TBI L03 engine is rated at 160 - 165 HP.
The intake pump has a large inlet as it gets a sock pressed on.
But for the inline pump, the feed line from the tank to the TBI unit is 3/8". You can open the line under the hood where it runs between the frame and the engine. There are fittings there with a rubber line between them.

Re: Stock fuel pump specs
Thanks for the reply.
So who can tell me which external pump is the less expensive for my car?
Cause the MSD 2225 is a little bit expensive to only move my car for 5 miles...

The pumps last for a hundred thousand miles assuming you have a clean fuel tank and don't run the tank exceedingly low on fuel.
Once you've assured that the pump, plumbing, and wiring are in top condition, there'll be no need for an "emergency" fuel pump to move the vehicle "5 miles".
