Building 92 Camaro RS 305
I have a 92 Camaro RS with the 305. It's all stock. I believe it has around 170hp and I'm interested in pushing it to 300hp to a max of 400hp. What parts would I need to make this possible starting with the engine to the transmission and etc. to stay reliable? Without doing a 350 swap, what are my possibilities? I'm just curious to see what would need to be done because I don't want to pull the entire motor out. Also, I found Hooker Super Comp. Headers full length for $500 brand new for my car, is it worth it? If I can't get 300hp or more out of the motor without pulling it, what heads and other parts could make it possible to accomplish 250hp or more? It only has a Flow Master Exhaust system. Any help would be much appreciated!

300 to 400 hp out of a TBI 305?
I wouldn't even try. It would be cheaper to just build another engine.
You could throw a 150 shot of nitrous at it. But you still won't reach those numbers.

I plan on trying to exceed 225whp, but is it possible to do so without pulling the bottom end, installing better cylinder heads plus headers and/or intake manifold?

A friend put Vortec heads, a Stage 4 single plane intake from Summit, and Lunati Voodoo cam on his 305 and dynoed more than 240HP to the rear wheels.

Damn! Did it have exhaust and headers on the car as well? I was told if the car already has o2 sensors/cat that i should keep them so the car will run the way it should. Therefore, get shorty headers instead of full length. Would that be correct?

Re: Building 92 Camaro RS 305
Also, say I wanted to do a 350 swap such as a LT motor into the 92 RS that previously had a 305 V8. Would the transmission fit and handle the horsepower? If so, would the transmission be capable of handling up to 450hp? I plan on building a 305, but if it's literally that insane or difficult, I may just save up for a 350 and build it to create 400hp. Possible a 383 stroker.
