Compression issue?
On an unrelated note but part of the story, sunday on the way home from a 4 hour round trip cruise/car show event. Car ran great, did some nice burnouts for the crowds, had a great time until....... i was almost home when my t5 got stuck in 4th gear while mildly accelerating to highway speed. Couldn't have happened at a better spot cause it was a straight shot to the house from where i was.
Now to the point, today i was in the shop and i tried rocking the car to see if it would come out of fourth gear. When rocking the car i noticed it was actually rolling farther than it should. so i opened the hood and pushed it again. The engine turns over when the car rolls. it is difficult to push but i can push it (within the space of the shop) in gear with the engine off and it will roll and the engine turns. IS THIS A COMPRESSION ISSUE?? COULD IT BE ANYTHING ELSE??
I've owned the car 14 years. i drive it to work regularly, autoX it. Haven't been afraid to drive it anywhere no matter how far.

Re: Compression issue?
Judging by the 77 views and only 1 reply i'm not the only one who has NEVER parked their car in 4th gear.
I talked to a mechanic friend and he said it is normal in that gear. It has no issues in 1st, 2nd, or reverse (the gears it normally gets parked in) but I've NEVER parked it in 4th gear before.

Don't ever park in second, third, fourth...gear. First or reverse only, and then only if you can't trust the park brake (such as parking on a hill.)
