Re: floating gas tank
What is a floating tank? How can it not be strapped-down like every other Camaro tank?
If the gas gauge doesn't work, the usual problems are:
1. Broken wire from gauge to sending unit. Gauge tends to read over-full.
2. Broken wire from sending unit to ground. Gauge tends to read over-full.
3. Defective sending unit. Common for wires to become corroded inside the gas tank, or for float to become heavy.
4. Defective gauge and/or dashboard circuit board

Re: floating gas tank
i really have no clue. i think the previous owner had welded a spot on the tank, and the weld broke.
