Squealing injectors

After doing a tbi rebuild with an injector service kit, my injectors have started squealing. Anyone ever heard of this? (Its on a truck, but a tbi, is a tbi, is a tbi)

Likely the base gasket is dried out, or the TBI unit mounting bolts aren't tightened down. Injectors will click, but a whistle or squeal is likely the base gasket leaking.

Re: Squealing injectors

The gasket is new and the bolts are tight... could they be too tight and letting air in between the bores between the base and manifold? There are only 3 bolts, and it seems if they were too tight the unit might arch up in the middle and let the gasket act like a reed and vibrate.

Re: Squealing injectors

That sure doesn't sound like injector noise to me.

Same thing happened with my buddy's TBI bird after we got done installing a NX nitrous kit. For clean install/removal purposes he tried first without any RTV on the throttlebody plate gasket. When we first fired up the engine there was immediately an obnoxiously loud high pitched screech that I thought might have been a belt.

Took the throttlebody off and RTV'd the gasket and it went away. Never thought a vac leak would have sounded like that.

When I tried to adjust my IAC counts between 5 and 15, it whistled. I ended up having to settle between 20 and 30 counts with no whistle.

Re: Squealing injectors

That's about where mine is. And it's stumbling off idle. I'm assuming its still a vacuum problem. I done the ultimate TBI mod with a heavier spring and it hasn't run right since. It's been too cold to mess with it here, so I'm just living with it for now. So embarrassing.
