Guys I need your help on Inc 350 swap..Read all faqs and stickies, and searched help!

Hey everyone,

So my current car and everyday driver is a 1988 Camaro that was originally a l03 from the Vin#.

It has a motor swap from a 1993 Caprice L05 350 from an intercepter, I even ran into the problem with putting a wrong distributor in there because we thought it to be an earlier model and the hole in the intake is larger as well as the mount on the distributor (started in the 92-93 models)

It has 305 serp setup, A/c delete pulley, stock manifold with air and egr, fresh tune up, K&N airstream lid (modified stock air cleaner), 17112493 Fuel injectors (alt pt.# 5235206) the ones that the tbichips.com faq suggests i beleive to be 61pph, the esc module esc100, and the knock sensor he suggests as well, su154 (autozone pt numbers).

It has a high flow cat with 3" flowmaster cat back welded exhaust

I'm currently running the 8063 ecm with stock 305 prom (but have 8746 ECM as well as anlu stock 9c1 chip, even tried hypertech chip) but have taken out for now

Have headers but have not put them on yet

I have been reading and studying the faqs on here to the tee, and am still having a few issues..Obviously i'm trying to complete a mut motor swap here lol...SOOO With that being said

I tried to put the 8746 with the stock chip in and no engine light, it started right up, but started to idle erratically variating from 1800 rpms the down to 500 and almost dying but not, and then put it in drive and it would steady out after bouncing a bit, but the jerkiness and hesitation was horrible and after a while starting running even more horrible, So I had to put the 88 computer back in for driveability and runs great for the most part idles perfect, has some power on the street but when you get to those higher rpms it just bunches up like its running out of juice but if you gradually put your foot into it it catches on...or WOT from stop its good but wot throttle on highway is lacking.

I feel like it was a fuel problem, maybe because the engine and that tune need the 68pph injectors maybe?? So after reading I could just make my fpr adjustable or get the higher pressure spring to bump the 61pph up match??

Ive just been trying to avoid having to buy everything else for burning my own chips..I would have to get the burn2, aldl cable, chips, etc. and get my 8746 ecm repinned for the g2 adapter...and wait...but for my understanding for a near stock motor with minor mods the stock tune is sufficient or should be?? Or am I just being naive and have to get it??

I think thats everything let me know if you guys need anymore info..This has been killing me...many sleepless nights, have considered ditching the tbi...but I think it will work out!! HELP lol

Boy you would think it would run better than that with the larger injectors. 8746 with ANLU should be OK. But not ANLU in the 8063. With 8063 seems it still should run better than you report as injeectors offset the larger CID.

I would buy or build a ALDL cable and datalog with winALDL. See what the sensors are reporting and BLM besides.

Seems like a tune is in future.

Thanks for the reply Ronnie,

i mean yeah right?? it really should run better, and i mean don't get me wrong it idles perfect and still has good torque up to about 2500rpm then it just dissapears, bogs, sure as **** can't race anybody lol

and the funniest part, and what everyone ends up doing is saying they should have got the stuff in the first place...which is what I probably should have done...dammit

Well i guess i'll at least have to get the aldl cable to see what's going on at the very least, and do some datalogging..

This has just been crazy, read everything on it, and followed to a tee, lol

I got a higher pressure spring for my fuel pressure reg. to bump it up to 15psi hopefully that'll help a little bit, and planning on making FPR adjustable as well???

You guys think that'd help any with that, because the the ANLU 9C1 chip is supposed to have 65 or 68pph injectors? and I only have the truck 350 injectors??

In the process of ordering an ALDL cable...just got outbid on ebay lol

You need sufficient fuel pressure capacity. IOW fuel pump. You need to monitor duty cycle of injectors. Use adequate FP to see 85%DC at WOT. My DC varies with what gear I am in for WOT.

Well I installed the 350tpi fuel pump, but when I got the car my objective was to get the car running as quick as possible, so I toggle switched the fuel pump and bypassed what I believed to be a wiring glitch, whenever we had the harness hooked up it was only reading like 8 volts to one of lines and we even swapped the known good fuel harness fromthe tank up from my running firebird (rip) that was wrecked in front

Sooo gave it direct power through a fuse, but do you think that could be aBut problem?

The more I write about it it seems like a problem, my gas gauge has never worked either, know the sending unit, pump, filter, and float are good though, just probably something simple...couldnt figure it out though (maybe not?)

I dont know where my head went on that one but guess ill have to wait for the cable to monitor what my injector duty cycle is at wot? And then start adjusting fuel pressure accordingly untill I see 85% at wot then
