383 build for towing

I asked a lot of questions and thanks for all the help from everyone!!
So here is where I am right now...Keep in mind that this is in a 94 C2500 2wd that I use for towing and just need some more power so low end low rpm torque is a must...I would like some input of what you guys think and if I am going in the right direction..Thanks
Here is the build so far:
Scat crank
5.7 scat rods
-12 cc Probe forged pistons(looks to be about 9.3 compression)
.083 GM heads that are getting a pocket port job(68cc chamber)
(These heads are what I have and are in real good shape)
EP 241 fuel pump
454 TBI with 17084327 injectors and going to set pressure at 35psi or so
Edelbrock 3704 intake that has been bored for the larger TBI
54760 lunati hyd roller
213/219 @ 50 112 lobe sep
447/471 lift with a 1.5 rocker
I am on the fence about a chip burn or the EBL as the truck has a 4l60E trans so any help there?? The EBL sounds like the hot ticket but I am not in any way a puter wiz or have any idea about you guys talking puter lingo...I talked to Harris performance and Super chips and both have said no problem to get it right it just may take a few times to get it right...
Thanks again for the help...

Re: 383 build for towing

Youll get 5hp if that been there done it,Get a carb intake and a tbi adapter best bang for the buck.

Re: 383 build for towing

Hey Guys thing are under way and hope to post some pictures of the build soon. Block is almost done and heads are all ported and just need some touch up along with all new valves/springs/retainers...
What do you guys think it will do as far as HP??? I was hoping for at least 300 but my machinist thinks it will be way more..
He should know as I wanted to make 900hp for my drag car so he did it but made 956 hp....LOL.......Thanks

Re: 383 build for towing

With good tuned prom probably around 260-270hp .I would use vortec heads but thats on you. With vortec heads and a slightly bigger cam and a long tubes headers etc you should be at an easy 300hp.But you really want torque. With the vortec head setup you should atleast be at 360 ftlbs of course this is at the flywheel. You have a 4l80e so thats going to suck up some power to not too much.I would figure about a 25%-30% drivetrain loss.

Re: 383 build for towing

The vortec heads are really that much better??? The heads I have are a 083 casting and look pretty nice and look better now since they are all cleaned up as far as the ports and under the valve.. It's what I had so I am going to use them unless I can find some vortec heads for cheep..
Thanks

Re: 383 build for towing

Can't find any 327 (68lb)injectors that I was going to use but did find some 304 (80lb)
injectors..Anyone know if I could use them or wait till I can find some 327 injectors?
If I can use them where should I set the pressure at to start?
Thank guys
