305tbi to this 350?
Im on a budget and may need a new engine soon. The engine I found I am not sure If I could use my TBI setup on. I know I would need 350 injectors, the right ECM/Prom. but would everything else bolt right up including wiring harness?...here is the engine..

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
you can use it. the intake is not a direct bolt on you would have to oblong the holes as those heads have different angle center intake bolts. everything else should transfer over from your 305 though. as far as i know.

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
You would just need 55# or bigger injectors, I use 90#. 350 knock sensor(always buy new) AND a 350 esc module which you take take from a hunt yard

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
ok so here is the list..
55# or 90# injectors
ECM/Prom (350)
350 Knock Sensor
Ported Intake Manifod
350 ESC
1.)Is there a direct bolt-on TBI manifold for this application?
2.)I have a 92 (20 years old) I have till 25 years in the state of Virginia (northern) to pass smog. Would I have any issues with smog with a 350TBI?
JEGS has this one it has alot more horsepower but it says its Carb. It seems like a better deal tho.

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
So how many manifold bolts does mine have? If I take my manifold to a machine shop what do I tell the guy to have him make it work?

you have the same amount of holes. the difference is the angle of the center intake bolts.

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
it will be fine emissions wise.
you need to oblong the holes on the intake to make it work. they sell a washer kit that helps the bolts tighten down properly.

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
I found one place that sells this engine at $2500. I was thinking more like 2k for a stocker. If anyone knows a cheaper place let me know please. http://autoplicity.com/products/1283...odwrench_.aspx
I found this from some company called pace performance... they say GM discontinued this engine????

It is a pity if they do not sell them anymore.

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
It was confirmed I called and that particular L05 is indeed discontinued which does not make sense because they came in 93 vehicals that are not even considered "classics" yet in most states. So I guess Im leaning toward this one.

It seems to have pretty good power but im not sure about emissions with the pistons and upgrades it has. Would I need this -
Angle Kit
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PFS-52110/
-OR- this Straight Kit for the manifold.

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
I know I just want a good replacement, insted I will probly be forced to downgrade in technology, they still had the L05 on the SD site but they were the truck versions, whats the differance on the car model?

Re: 305tbi to this 350?
Truck LO5's have mainly flat tapped cams, for exemple GM 12568758.
Otherwise can look at the L31, but will require new intake manifold and some plumbing for the EGR.

I did find some complete salvaged L05 caprice engines. There is a risk with anything used so I will weigh my options. Thanks guys.
