Trouble code 42.
So I ran my codes today and got code 42, Fault at electronic spark timing circuit OR Fault at direct ignition system OR Fault at fuel cutoff relay circuit. Where should I go from here, what should I start to look for?

Re: Trouble code 42.
Code 42 will be set if the bypass connector is open, or grounded, the ignition module will not switch to the EST mode. That will happen every time when you set base timing by disconnecting EST set connector - code 42 is set. To clear it disconnect battery (engine is off) for about 30 sec.
Now, if after verifying that EST connector is latched closed the most likely culprit is combination ot ignition control module or intermittent harness. Before anything else just try resetting by clearing ECM (battery disconnected).
