ticking noise.

ok guys, i got another problem. At first i thought it was a bad exhaust leak but the more i listen i dont know if thats what it is. whenever i am accelerating i hear a loud tick comming from the driver side of the motor. i dont hear it though if i put the car in neutral and rev it up. im lost and the noise is getting really aggravating haha. cant stand showing up to my car club with a ton of new camaros and mine ticking its tail off until i let off the gas.

I had the same problem took some tinkering to figure it out but what ya might want to check is your exhaust manifolds the bolts holding them on are notorious for breaking and are a pain to fix also check all of tubing for the smog pump stuff they rust through or break easily also and tend to make a ticking type noise I fixed them and no more noise That's my hopefully it helps ya out.

Ya, I had the exact same thing it would only tick with a load on the engine. It turned out the bolts on my header were loose.

Re: ticking noise.

I would think rocker arm also....Being that the ticking goes away when you rev, the rest of the engine noise is overcoming it so you won't here it. Also, the motor will be pumping more oil so that will quiet it down a little?
