Re: Info on egr and air pump delete

There are air pump delete pulleys available from gm parts direct. I do not remember the part number, you can do a search for that. Not a significant gain in HP but it does clear up a lot of space. I left my EGR on as I could think of no reason to delete it. If you do remove the EGR you will need to disable it in the ecm program.

Do a search on this and you will find ALOT of information.

Also beware of the smog police on the board, they are a little touchy when it comes to removing emissions parts. But hey it's your car do what ever you want.

air pump delete: https://www.thirdgen.org/serpentine

EGR delete you'll need a block-off plate available at most parts stores.

Doing either will not gain you any horsepower at all, and EGR delete will throw a code so your SES light will always be on.

Re: Info on egr and air pump delete

summit sells the smog delete pulley or you can reroute it and buy a belt 2.3 inches longer than your current belt.

Re: Info on egr and air pump delete

On my car,'82 with 350CFI,i removed the AIR pump
and all of the A.I.R. valves, hoses and pipes as that
stuff was clumsy and in the way and removing the
pump eliminated the dorky buzz generated by the pump
at high rpm.
I kept the EGR active, but have not tried it without the
EGR so i do not know if removing it would affect how the
engine runs, though some engines use the EGR to help
control detonation.

Im sure the same reason as everyone else, kill some polar bears and turn 1000s of miles of useless desert into beach front property as Cal drowns in the atric flood

Wondering if it's becouse, of some big talk like, AIR and/or EGR are holding the power back on the H.O. LO3.

The estetic of the AIR delete pulley or the empty bracket may not be of everybodys taste anyway.

The EGR valve can not be seen in the engine bay, except if using a carb bonnet.
EGR is a fuel economy and emission reducing cruising device, as soon as the TPS (trottle position sensor) shows over 50% open the EGR is deactivated.
Reason why it has no impact on power at all.

And Gumby, I do not care about your belives about the world, I only care about thirdgen related tech.
