Ebay 450hp TBI ?

Hello every one, Im building a 355 for my 91 fbird that currently has a tbi 305 in it and I just found out my stock tbi and fuel pump wont get anywhere near feeding my engine enough for the power I want. Im looking for at least 375hp.

My engine swap thread is in this post:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...ml#post4687658

I was wondering if any1 had any info regarding this TBI im thinking about ordering.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Im looking for a pretty quick and budget friendly solution for my intake needs. Hope I can get some feedback on an intake solution.

Thanks every1!

Re: Ebay 450hp TBI ?

It would be better to get TBI parts here http://stores.ebay.com/TBIPARTS/_i.h...4.l1581&_pgn=2 much better!

50-54 mm TB should work.

For 450hp, probably a 255 walbro fuel pump with aftermarket external fuel pressure regulator.

For tuning that TBI http://dynamicefi.com/ is the best.

Re: Ebay 450hp TBI ?

Thanks for the response!

I found a similar complete intake on the site you suggested, its even cheaper too And they seem to specialize more with tbi.

I Feel like u saved me from a lot of hassle with that tuning setup, it was just what ive been looking for, i felt like the regular chip tuning and flashing method is too much of a hassle with all the reinstalling and erasing. Are there any other tuning setups like these out there ?

Again thanks for all the help!

Re: Ebay 450hp TBI ?

Ive never tuned before but im going to have to make a tune for the new engine im building once its in the car n all. Im really good with computers so I hope it wont be too hard for me.

Also I was wondering if anyone would happen to know what a good carb intake manifold for TBI would be for some good torque and hp around 400+ on a 350 bored .030 ovr.

Re: Ebay 450hp TBI ?

EBL flash is the only complete, plug and play tuning system for TBI camaro/firebird.

Camquest6 will give you some exemples of cams. Make sure to chose computer compatible.

Maybe you could attempt a single plane intake manifold. Not sure anymore if the edelbrock performer rpm is anough for over 400hp.

Try to search what fast355 used on his high hp TBI engines.

What do you think a 54MM TBI will flow?

I'm thinking of putting together a 550hp TBI combo, assuming John's (injectorsplus) TBI injectors work out.

A performer RPM with a carb can make over 500, nearly 600hp. A 383 with AFR 195 heads, a performer RPM, and a 750 carb is 505hp at 6k.

This is the gap we're trying to fill, hopefully RBOB will come back with good reports. I'm optimistic.

When these engines were designed technology was no where near what it is today.

Cam profiles, head design, intake design, a lot has changed making 550 feasible, short the fuel delivery.

Right.. If we can get reliability cheaply TBI can have a come back. The cost and simplicity (for guys with carb setups) is very appealing.

If a guy was starting fresh, like NO intake nothing, the professional products MPFI intakes for $215 are a good deal, but if you have a tricked out 500hp carb motor with a victor or a performer RPM or something else, figure $300-400 to get a good throttle body, some injectors, and junkyard ECM.
Chinese (assuming) ebay 255lph inline pumps are $99 shipped now, rated at 40psi.. Regulate it down to 30, etc.. Could be cheap and clean.

The injectors HAVE to be reliable though, from idle to WOT through the traps at the end of the track. I'll buy if Rbob says they are good to go.

Read through it. Didn't notice any track times. Sounded like a good combo at the time.

that is larger than 2.00 inch. I will guess with TBI pod about 640 CFM. 710 CFM I believe with out pod. I think I am at 350 hp on the motor and my 7.4L GM TBI at 100% TPS I am running 92-93 MAP at 5800 rpms 1000 ft elevation. My intake is Holley Projection rated to 6000 rpms. My intake tract is blower bonnet 4 inch exit reduced down to 3 inch to K+N large cone 4 dia X 7 lenght. So I think no restrictions there. Restriction is TB unit. IMHO

I thought the 670cfm was the 50MM 7.4 stock unit?

I've been looking at the motorvation cast injector TB as well. It's quad port 4150 flange, non progressive linkage, and runs 4 PnH injectors so a '747 with (or without I guess) EBL can run it.

Re: Ebay 450hp TBI ?

I edited. I did not realize it was 54.MM so I did math. I beat your post however !

If starting fresh why not a pro products single plane with a suitable TB unit and port fueling? this is more directed to OP not Joe. Just seems a better design for larger HP engines. Is a LS TB with Eledbrock 90d neck a better choice?

A singleplane with a 90* adapter and an LSx throttle body worked well on my corvette. A singleplane with an L31 throttle body and an adapter worked even better. I think the 90* transition is a killer. Probably why plenums on LSx motors are designed the way they are.
