newb with a thermostat wont open question
first off great site!....next i picked up a 92 tbi 305 rs for the wife, where going to do some bracket racing and just cruise around, going to keep it
stock for now, did a major service on it..plugs, wires, cap, rotor..yada yada
the car had no thermostat it it...clue #1, i installed a napa stat and the dam thing wont open unless i shut the engine off for a couple min. gage
just keeps climing till it pegged and boiling, shut it off wait..restart it and temp comes down to 195 and stays there all day long......wrong stat?
i'am going to put in a ac delco stat today...or am i missing something??
thanks in advance

Did you test the thermostat? Have you relaced the radiator cap?

Re: newb with a thermostat wont open question
Mine didn't open this morning...replaced it with a delco 195. Stick with a delco...I've had 2 Mr. Gaskets go bad on me. By the way, keep in mind that your factory temp gage probably isn't all that accurate...my engine fan doesn't run on until the edge of the red. I questioned whether my car was actually overheating or not, but based on how hot it was under the hood, and the fact the needle was pegged, proved to me it was.
