How will this build work?

I am going to put together a motor from parts I have around, plus adding a few new...just wondering what anyone's thoughts are about this; please keep in mind that my goal is more torque than HP, not going to be reving over 4500rpm! Will most likely end up in my Tahoe!

aftermarket cold air intake
bored tbi+ultimate (50mm)
bigger injectors
Edelbrock 3704 (bored out to 2")
slightly done 193's w/stock rockers(yes i know, but <4500 and torque!)
Ramjet roller cam
Double timing chain
stock L05 car bottom end (flat w/valve reliefs, I think)
stainless headers (1 3/4" inlets)
true dual exhaust

Custom tune/prom work w/WB.

Anyone ever setup like this? Just a few?'s

Any idea about HP estimate? Torque?
Should I go with roller rockers?
Any ideas about ignition?
Would a .026 steel head gasket be right?
Anything else I should be thinking about (besides vortecs)?

Thanks in Advance..

Re: How will this build work?

Details,

isent the tahoe air cleaner already cold air intake?

A ultimate 46mm TB would probably alredy be plenty for a 4500rpm 350 with 193's. Stock 43mm is good for 280hp.

What are the specs of the ram jet roller cam?

Single GM performance timin chain "GMPP #12371043" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12371043/ is a better choice for yor application.

I would chose the head gasket thickness to get 0.040-0.046 quench distance, if possible.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes, it has that crazy snorkel setup into the side of the fender. I should have clarified, and aftermarket air cleaner setup.

One of the reasons I posted this... I have seen a lot of HP estimates with elements of what I am doing and don't know where I will be. Just don't know if stock TBI will be enough. Moving to flat-tops and the cam should help lots, but I don't know how much! (help!)

What are the specs of the ram jet roller cam?

The Cam is the Ramjet 350, GM part number 14097395; According to paceperformance.com:

The duration at lash point in degrees (intake/exhaust) is 288/308; duration at .050" tappet lift (intake/exhaust) is 196/206 and maximum lift with 1.5:1 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 431/451. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe centerline is 109 degrees.

Single GM performance timin chain "GMPP #12371043" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12371043/ is a better choice for yor application.

This has been in the works for a while. My brother used to do a lot of SBC work. We have both gotten away from it for a while. He has moved closer to me so we are starting to play again! He has a few things available, including, I believe the timing chain/gear set that I will steal from him; but I am considering your suggestion.

I would chose the head gasket thickness to get 0.040-0.046 quench distance, if possible.

Ah, yes, quench distance. I was doing a fair amount of reading on this a while back. I ran the suggested calculations, and came up with .026 to get in that range. I don't know much about that topic, so I was relying on what I was reading to come up with that! I don't even know what I have done with the scraps of paper and notes to come up with that gasket thickness. I THINK I have it right, but I will measure again and verify. Really don't want to mess that up!

I also forgot to mention also have:

AFPR and I think I have a TPI pump. Is the stock TBI to TPI pump just plug and play or do I need to mod the stock sending unit?

Again, thanks for any input as I like to do things once!

Re: How will this build work?

You were clear, I am under the impression that a aftermarket air cleaner may be more a waste of $ then an encrease of hp. On that car.

Probably close to 250rwhp if tuned ok.

Yes, best is to mesure piston to deck and check the deck surface to figure out the gasket.

TBI to TPI fuel pump is plug and play. You may go with a VAFPR and use this to tune http://dynamicefi.com/ or burn around 100-200 chips
