Motorvation 4-barrel TBI -- any experience?

Does anyone have any experience with this setup? Looks intriguing....

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

They have setups for both Vortec and non-Vortec head engines.

For that kind of Money you could convert to a complete multiport setup including manifold injectors and the ecm to run it!! Convert to the Dynamic EFI Flash ebl $450 I think. A weiand/Holley or other single plane multiport manifold- about $250 to #300 And a set of injectors. Not sure on the price but I would think it could be done for under $1000. Just my thoughts! But that is what I would do for that kind of money. Or keep you tbi and tune it for what ever mods you plan to do and you could save the money for Heads/cam/exhuast etc. Tbi can be made to work with 400hp if needed.

Re: Motorvation 4-barrel TBI -- any experience?

I am close to doing the conversion. Just need to find a good price on a Victor EFI manifold or Holley for that matter used or new with rails and injectors($330 + $80 + $629).

WOW over a grand?

I will remove the injector pods from my 7.4L TBI and use it on the single plane. I believe it flows 670 CFM without the pods. I will pick up hood clearance as I need a 1.00 spacer currently to clear pods. I already have the EBL just need the MP conversion. Its a WIN WIN for sure.

Just need to find the $$$

Hey Ronny let me know how it all turns out!! PLEASE!! Im in the process of collecting parts right now for the same conversion, and would like to see how everything works out. I was just guessing at the prices for stuff-LOL. Still way cheaper than the original post's 4brl tbi buy a long shot.

Well I can see for myself it's way expensive -- I was asking if anyone had any actual EXPERIENCE with this system.

That's just a repackage of the throttle body sold by auto-nomics.

If you got the version with an IAC, picked up a port mod'd EBL Flash and a decent dual plane 4 bbl manifold, you would have a great performance tbi setup.

Still a bit spendy though, considering you will have a wet flow system.

Good points. My alternate plan was to take a speed-density tpi system I already have and use a big mouth manifold and bigger tpi runners (say AZ Speed & Marine) and port the plenum. Bigger injectors as well if necessary. How much horsepower do you think such a system could generate on a 350 with AFR heads and new cam?

Thanks for your input -- good points and I will keep it in mind.

This is also a newer version of a kit Accel used to sell. I Think its a cool little kit because its sold as an all-in-one conversion for TBI and has EGR to keep emissions stuff...the modified kit is supposed to feed up to 440hp that's honorable but the price is kind of high...I like the MPFI Victor Jr. stuff with a Port TB and Accel has a single plain MPFI with EGR but you will need a computer system still.

Re: Motorvation 4-barrel TBI -- any experience?

Ronny,

Is your motor choking with your current set-up?

It seems like a lot of dough to dish out just to have a "4 barrel". I got a 2" TBI right now and I think off my last logs that I am around 92 or 98 MAP at WOT. I should be around 425hp at the flywheel. Anyway, I don't think that I need to go 4 barrel, maybe 2.25" tb if I had money to waste.

Where are the injectors on this thing? Oh, I see them now. OK, so this kit is like 4 tpi injectors spraying just slightly under the throttle blades.

I would think the edelbrock tbi to mpi would be a cheaper conversion to get mpi.

Re: Motorvation 4-barrel TBI -- any experience?

Last summer I removed my 14 x 2.5 inch round air cleaner. With that I will say I was at 94 MAP WOT. Key on was 98 MAP. I am 1300 feet above sea level. Adding the low rise blower bonnet with 3.5 inch inlet duct to a large 5x7 canister KN AC I dropped about 2 on MAP to 96. So I am OK on restriction. Exhaust I have 2.25 dual ext with freeflowing mufflers. I just read some restriction on ext is good for TQ so OK there too.
