Getting ready for my summer engine buildup
Heres what is planned for in early July
Edelbrock Waterpump - 350-88814
Edelbrock TBI intake manifold [going to get it bored too 2in] - 350-3704
ZZ4 heads - 809-12556463
LT4 Hotcam - 809-24502586
B&M drain plug - 130-80250
Proportioning valve [for LS1 rear brakes] - 950-260-8419
Im going to get my LS1 rear end from my friend [if he ever gets a new rear end] or I might just get some new gears for my rear end, if you have any recommendations for that it would be helpful if i go that route.
Im getting LS1 rear brakes and an LS1 aluminum driveshaft from the junk yard
I already have a 454 throttle body to put in
If i have enough money im going to get a Wynjammer supercharger, if not i think ill get a open air element [not sure which ones fit]
Its all going to get dyno tuned [hopefully a lot more then I got at my last dyno, or else im done with 305's, lol]
So if you guys have anything to add, or any recommendations that would be great! Feel free to take guesses at my dyno results after the upgrades if you wish.
Also im going to get my transmission rebuilt, with a 2400 stall and a hurst shifter in December or January I think.
And thanks for all the help guys!

Re: Getting ready for my summer engine buildup
yeh if you look at my dyno results in my other thread the purple line is the one with my cutout open and the intake taken off, it raised my low end by like 20hp and 30tq, very weird.
Im not sure how much they will have to be milled, im still not 100% sure on the heads, but seems like the only other options are get the 350tpi heads or go Vortec style. Or maybe get some World s/r torquers?
If I get cheaper heads then maybe I can swing the Wynjammer through and then i should make some nice power with a dyno tune.

Did you have the chance to try without intake and close cut-out?
Wynjammer is wery interesting too, but for charger and heads you can drop in a 350 that has hp 300+ for a start. At least its my impression.

Re: Getting ready for my summer engine buildup
Well the wynjammer will work if I get a 350, just gotta keep it TBI.
And no i dident get a chance to do with cutout closed, but cutout added like 1hp, lol. My exhaust isent a restriction yet. If I dident have the new fuel system in im sure we could have got at least 150hp out of her, 90% of the time was trying to get it to stop running so rich, and then 10% of the time was performance tuning.
Come to think of it.... I think ill just search around on ebay and here and if i see some tpi heads i think im going to just jump on them if their a good price and then just get them reworked, should be at least 600 or 700$ less then the zz4 heads. Then i can get the wynjammer and i think the wynjammer will give me more power then the zz4 heads will, lol.

You really don't have to mill down the ZZ4's due to the 58cc chamber, but it would be a good thing do to the aluminum dissipating heat faster. I milled mine doen about .040 to keep the compression up.Just remember to elongate the two middle holes in the intake so you can bolt the intake down properly.

How far should they get milled?
I dont feel the zz4's are really worth it on my 305, i think the wynjammer will be money better spent for me at least.

083 are L98 heads. Loock at the head flow sticky, it may be easyr to use ported 081 (LB9) heads.
If wynejammer does what they claim

Re: Getting ready for my summer engine buildup
I found some of the 081's for 400$ on ebay and they were all cleaned and had new oem stuff on them. So i figure for 600-700$ i can get a pair with new goodies inside em, lol. Looks like the 081's will be a better bargin for me as opposed to the zz4's, the build should be all done with dyno numbers by august. Im just iffy about the wynjammer, not sure if ill have enough $$$ for it, if i do then i should have one fast 305. Thanks for all the help though man. Once I start the build ill start a new thread and post tons of pictures and stuff so you can see the progress.

Tgo experts say that stock 081 are worse then stock 187 (LO3) on stock tbi.
Just make sure you have the 081 exaust ports ported well.

Re: Getting ready for my summer engine buildup
That's way too much for 081's. I got my pair for 50 bucks. They're a dime a dozen. I still don't understand why you're limiting yourself to stock GM heads. If you have the money to spend on heads, get something decent, not old stock GM heads that won't make much more power than your stock heads. If you need GM heads, at least look into Vortecs they are much better than any other stock head. Look at aftermarket though if you have the $ to spend, you'll get much better heads, with screw-in studs, good valve jobs, springs set up to handle more lift and everything already set up for performance.

Re: Getting ready for my summer engine buildup
Well offer me an option on something not too expensive thats after market. I just wanted to go with the 081's because well, there cheap and then i can get the supercharger.
But if i can get a pair for under 100$ im def gonna get em.
