305 mod qustions
I tried to read throu to see if anyone had asked this already. so i apoligiese in advance if i missed the thread... but here's my qustions.
I have a 1991 RS camaro 305, TBI, 700R4 Trans. A freind of mine has a 350 Intake, and a TBI off a 454. i have heard some ppl say this would be a good set up... Personly i'm not that experienced at modding engins. my current 305 is compleatly stock. I going to put a new short block in the car and put new heads on it. I'd like to put a medum cam in it as well for some more umph. I'd rather not go super radical with the cam i'm just not looking for that kinda profromace or sound from the car. What would be the bennifit of using the 350intake, with a spacer, and the 454 TBI? Good, Bad? ok? and if i did use it, anyone have any recomendations on what heads i should put on it and cam size? I'm not looking for a super tuned 400 hp. i just want more punch than the stock engine will give me and a nice soudn from the motor at idle. also.. at this point what would be my bennifit of staying with a 305 short block vs swtiching over to a 350 short block. I also have the computer from the car we pulled the intake/TBI off of.

Re: 305 mod qustions
You would see no gain from switching intake and TB. Thats really not the limiting portion of your current equation. Right exhaust, heads and cam are your worst enemies. Exhaust being number 1. Headers back, replace it all with quality components. Then move on to the rest of the engine. The 454 throttle body would def be a good thing if you put a nice 350 in and go a little wild. If you can get the parts that throttle body and injectors would be a good deal. As far as the computer or chip, with a bigger cam you will need to burn a chip anyway.
Ok so throwing that setup on the 305 dose not make a houge amount of since then. I gues what i really want to know is Since I have ascess to th at intake, and TBI, I shoudl just get a 350 short block. Any recomendations for heads and cam for a 350 setup?
