what will i need to make a 383 tbi
as u might of read my cam question about putting the lt4 hot cam in my 92 rs 305 with a five speed i decided to change my way of going about things and spend a little more and get alot more hp. i decided that im going to buy a 383 stroker off blue print engines i can buy a 405 hp and 440 ftpt motor for somewhere around 3,000 and it has a 2.5 year warrenty n till i rebuild mine id have about that if not more in it with out a warrenty and still have less hp. but i dont know that much about tbi so i was wondering if a 670 cfm holley tbi would work with a burnt chip and an iroc fuel pump or not or should i go bigger and if so what should i go with? or should i go tpi or carb . id like to try to keep tbi if posible id like to try to keep from hacking harnesses n stuff if i can

Re: what will i need to make a 383 tbi
I'm in the midst of having a 383 built as I type. Right now, I've got a crate vortec 350 with a ZZ4 cam, a 255lph tpi pump, 50mm bore tb, 68lb. injectors @15psi, GMPP Vortec TBI intake also bored to match the tb, Hooker headers, Hooker catback exhaust, LM-1(wideband O2 sensor) and EBL. I believe the most important thing is going to be the cam you use as well as the tune. I've heard good and bad about the Holley tbi. I would just get a stock one and have it bored out or you can purchase one already modified. Less headaches in my opinion. And a lot less headaches if you don't hack any harnesses.

There is a LOT more to it than simply "having a chip burnt". If you mean properly tuning by some one on a dyno or on the road then yes you can easily get your 383 going. A mail order tune won't stand a chance of running your engine. You need to read through the "vortech 383" thread to get a feel for what all is really needed to step up and make big power. In short you need to upgrade the pump, injectors, and get a 58 mm throtle body. Of course you'll need to have all the bolt on's for the motor to make the power they claim.
