Supercharged 383 Question

I have a 95 Yukon that has the 5.7 computer. I am running a 383 8.5CPR Scat Forged Crank, Scat Forged H-Beam Rods, Forged Dish Pistons, Brodix IK180 Aluminum Heads, Edelbrock TBI Manifold, Cometic Head Gaskets, MSD Ingition & Coil, Mellen 7Qt Oil Pan, Edelbrock Headers, Pro Charger D1SC with Intercooler, 11 lbs of boost, Fully modded TBI with 75# injectors and a FMU. I have a Innovate Wide Band Data Logger, I want to either change my fueling setup to allow more control and better tuning. Right now I have a chip burned by Ed Wright and I had it for my old motor and this is a different setup. It runs but not like it should. The heads are setup like this. These specs are for cam installed @ 108.0 Intake Center Line. Duration @ .50 Intake 210 Exhaust 220 Lobe lift intake .3200 Exhaust .3200 Lobe Seperation 112.0 Gross Valve lift .480 Exhaust .480 This is very confusing information to me I was hoping someone could recomend if I keep my current TBI setup and try and tune it or if I should change my fuel system completely so I could tune it better. I feel I have lots of untapped power and I am missing the boat.
Thanks any help will be appreciated

Re: Supercharged 383 Question

Well, you've identified the problem correctly. You need a way to control the fueling and timing correctly under boost. Lucky for you just such a setup exists to convert your stock ECM to run well with boost. It's called the EBL system and in consists of a modified add on board that will allow you to datalog at high rates and also has Rbob's ultimate TBI code which has provisions for boost built right in. It's trully the BEST code out there right now.

With your setup you need the biggest injectors you can find and you need to get your fuel pressure up as high as possible. You should be able to make 500 hp easily which will be the upper limit of what TBI can support.

Re: Supercharged 383 Question

Excellent I was wondering if the EBL system would work with my setup. Will it control the transmission also since it is a add on to my computer? Also I have a assist fuel pump that came with the supercharger kit right now I am getting 40lbs of fuel pressure when the FMU kicks in. Is that enough? Also should I switch over to the 90# injectors? Thanks alot I really appreciate your reply.

Re: Supercharged 383 Question

I would lock in at a preset fuel pressure, or see if the table Rbob came up with to compensate for a vaccume referenced regulator can be modified to correctly account for the FMU. At 40 psi and say 10 psi of boost you are now at 30 psi worth of flow, so you have to take that into account on a blow through setup. Your WB and PW will tell you if you need more fuel. I would tune on it for a while first and see what you come up with.

The downside of the EBL is that it will not run your transmission. You can keep your stock ECM as a tranny controller and use the EBL to run the engine.

You might want to talk with Fast355 and see what he did with his boosted setup. He's a big fan of the PCM's like the one in your truck, but I think he did use an EBL setup to run his blown motor.
