Crane Cams 2050 please help!!!!
Have a 305 TBI that's ready for a rebuild I heard the sound clip of the PACESETTER CATBACK in the exhaust thread and feel in love with it. I want to get that sound with the 305, but I don't know crap about cams can someone point me in the right direction. Also the car will be a daily driver so I really just want the sound of that car. I know everybody is going to say why rebuild the 305 it mainly because of gas prices and the 305 is in the car. Also how much tuning will I have to do with the computer. Thank you

2050s not a bad cam, but youll need gears and possibly a new TC, new fuel pump, upgraded intake manifold, better heads or port and work the current ones to accept more lift, larger 454 TBI, and tuning.
An LT1 cam would be the path of least resistance if your dead set on getting a better cam.

Won't be going with that cam. The head work is no problem, but doing the gears and converter is too much for my budget right know. Can anyone suggest a cam close to the 2050 that will give me something like that idle with just some head work.

I can give you my performer plus cam thats misground. That has a real nice lope when in the PCM is in open loop idle.
All joking aside, though, you should select your cam based on what powerband you want and how much power your budget can support, not sound. Alot of the sound is from an erratic vacuum signal to the carb from the overlap. Good for peak power but not terribly EFI friendly...

yes cams are best based on what your lookin to get, and if ur stuck between two sizes go with the smaller one, smaller cam i sbetter than a bigger cam.
