open element

i picked up an open element from autozone. edlebrock 1221, its a 14x3" drop base element and wouldnt fit. i had to leave the stock ring on so it would barely clear the coil wires, and the bolt was too short to screw it down. it was 29.99, i'm going to take it back and try to find anotherone somewhere else.

so the drop base ones require you to keep the spacer, but the normal ones dont? I'm going to stay with a 3" filter.

thanks

Re: open element

I used a flat base 14x3 open element, clears everything fine and you can toss that stupid ring. I had to make my own stud though, the one that came with mine wasn't long enough to make the bends needed for the TBI, but that was reallt easy to do.

Re: open element

You def don't want a raised based, unless you have a cowl hood.

A flat base will clear the stock hood. I bought mine from Jegs

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...51908_-1_11349

I believe it was part # 555-50022

Re: open element

Why don't you pick up the phone and call them, they always help me find what I want when I can't find it on the websight.

Re: open element

Thanks, just a side note, in your sig, It's way easier to make a 4th gen look good than it is to make a 3rd gen fast.

I would say it didnt take much for my two 4th gens to look good.
