Lumpy idle, whats the fix?
After my cam swap, the car wants to idle pretty low (500 rpms) and it's pretty lumpy.. Is there any way to set the idle at like 900 rpms instead of that low?

a lumpy cam is the product of it's initial lift rate compared to the volume of the cyl.
so any time you add a bigger cam you will get a little more of a rumpity note to the engine.
i gues the cure is to buy a bigger engine but then you'll realize how cool it sounded before and hafta put in a bigger cam then your g/f will complain about the new cam so you'll hafta buy a bigger engine but then you'll dump her when she calls the car dumb and go get anopther bigger cam ......you can see where i am going with this

yeah, eventually i figured that it was just going to be that way.. as long as it's not too hard on the engine at idle then I'm fine...
I actually thought it was misfiring but it runs too smooth above 1000 rpms to be missing...

My car was running really terribly at idle until I realized I forgot to plug the vacuum tube. ;P

I already posted the solution on your other post. Adjust the IAC as I described and it should cure the problem. The low idle is your problem. If you've never adjusted it before, there is a thin sheet metal plug covering the adjusting screw that has to be removed first with a pick or small screwdriver. But remember to have the connector disconnected from the IAC when you make tha adjustments. Good luck, Lon.

Yup I had the same lumpy problem and just adjusted the IAC and its fine. The lt1 cam is a little lumpy and I thought I had a problem at first.
