Track Results of Ram Air Box's twin snorkel

Well, my fastest time ever is 15.64 with the weather about 68 degrees, low humidity, no wind, etc. I went to the track on Fri., the weather was exactly opposite. 95 degree temp, 100% humidity, 5-10 mph winds...to say the least not optimal. With the sun still out the car ran consistant 15.80-15.77, but when the sun went down the temp dropped to a freezing 83 degrees and the car began to pick up. I dialed in a 15.72 and I had to get on the brakes hard to stop from running out. I'm not sure what it would have run but I do know that even with conditions that bad, the car would have easily run low 15.6's (I ran my fastest 60 foot ever, a 2.190). My desktop drag 2000 program says that the weather differences would have slowed me about 2.5 tenths so I figure that is about what I got from the Ram Air Box (over an open air filter). All in all, not a bad improvement, I still would like to see the real improvement in ideal conditions.

Hey thanks for posting the results on this mod. I wonder how much better you would do running the 4" snorkle on the drivers side.
Running the stock 3" OE on the drivers side has to reduce performance. I bet it makes a difference if you are able to open up that side. If you ever find one or two of these, put me down for one and I will do the same. Thanks for the e-mail on the install. I am gonna wait till I can find the drivers side 4" snorkle to do this mod...........bob

My305, whats you 1/8mi. time on that run you ran at 2.190 60ft. I ran a 2.215 60ft with a 9.963 1/8im time today. One other thing you might want to consider is changing your plugs back to a single electrode plug to unshroud the spark. You might find another tenth or two.

My 1/8 mile time is a 9.998 at 70.13 mph. I was told that a 4 electrode plug promotes a complete burn, and smoother acceleration, but I could be wrong. They cost enough (6 something a plug X8) so I was hoping they were good. Anyone else think I cold pick up some time going to a single electrode? I just bought the best (most expensive)plug they had, I'm sure there could be better.

Bob...I'm sure if I switched to a 4in driver's side snorkel it would improve the ram effect. I know a guy that works for Chevy dealer and I'm going to see if he can find a 4in snorkel, if he can I'll try to get you one.

My305, with your ignition setup try going back to a stock AC plug and gap then at .045in. If you don't mind changing plugs, there cheap and if they don't show any improvment at least you'll have a extra set of plugs for an emergency. I'd say you will not see any drop off from the plus-4's your running now.

unless you are serious about bracket racing...I would have said the hell w/ it and broke out. This would have proven to yourself what the car really gained.

I saw another post ont this board with pictures of The TPI air scoop/snorkle ducted to a TBI aircleaner. Does anyone know the flow numbers of the TPI scoop/duct work?
It seems that this set up with a single
hose going into a modified TBI aircleaner would be very clean and relatively easy.
The pictures I have seen show the TPI set up used along with the drivers side snorkle,
which I am sure brings in a lot of air but looks a little funky. Just wondering about the flow of the TPI set up...........bob

The ducting goes to the stock location on the radiator support. It mounts in the pre-existing holes (89 and up)

rsilver...do you have an address for that post?
