Nothing wrong with that lift as long as the clearances are checked. The more more lift the better. Too much duration is what makes a cam unstreetable.

Transmission: 700R4

Do larger lift cams pull more vacuum, or is it the duration that pulls vacuum? The reason I ask is, I had some friends who put a cam with about that lift in a car and had to run a vacuum canister to keep their brakes.

Duration and overlap affect vacuum. Too much duration and overlap = no vacuum.

Realizing this probably belongs in the general engine section, what exactly is overlap?

Put simply, overlap is the amount of degrees both valves (intake and exhaust) are open at the same time.

at www.compcams.com they have a great article about all that cam stuff you want to know.
