HELP! 92RS cranks but won't start....
Well right now its sitting by the fitness trail where I run.It cranks just fine but it won't fire.My wife won't be home for a few hours so is there anything specific to look for when I get back to it.I checked all the fuses, they're fine.I couldn't here the fuel pump prime so I hope that isn't it,but i was by my self so it was kind of hard to hear.I'm a decent back yard mechanic so please point me in the right direction....

Take your air cleaner lid off and have your wife crank it over. You should see the injectors spraying gas. While you're there, does it seem flooded? If its not and you got gas, stick a spare spark plug in one of your wires and ground it to the exhaust manifold, have wifey crank it over and see if you got spark.
Good luck

OK,now i'm confused. My wife had to work late so I borrowed my neighbors car.I went ahead and picked up an ignition module for it just in case. When I got there of course i had to see if it would start,Nothing.Same thing just cranked.I took my test light and started probing around, wanted to make sure that the MSD ignition wasn't the problem.Everything checked out so I decided to see if it was getting fuel.I was by myself so i used a papertowel under the injectors to see if it would be saturated with fuel. The bitch fired up!? Scared the **** out of me,I thought the papertowel would get sucked into the intake so I cut it off imediately.Put everything back together and drove it home just in case it wouldn't start again.I've started it and shut it down about 20 times now that i'm home and it's fine.So what the hell is going on?

If I were you, I wouldn't take your car anywhere you don't want to be stranded. The exact same thing happened to me and it turned out to be an intermitant ignition control module. If you didn't do anything to fix it, then it probably will do it again. And there is no reason why it would've been flooded from what you say. If it was flooded you would have been able to smell it.

When my car was still TBI it would sometimes do the same thing you describe. i would just start cranking and put my foot to the floor. You would think that it would flood it out more, but it actually fired right up with a puff of black smoke (too much fuel). It only did it once in a great while. I suggest if the same problem happens again, give it a try. I dont think you can hurt anything by doing that.
good luck

Thanks for the replys guys. It's been OK for a few days now.I replaced the ignition module and thought it was fine but on the way home the other day it died driving down the road.I pulled off to the side of the road and it just cranked but wouldn't start.I think i had a bad connection to my MSD box so rewired it, so ounce again it has been running fine.Except when it died it had a really strong gas smell.i don't know if all of this is revolving around one problem or if it's a few problems all at ounce.....up until now i have had no problems with the car and I've owned it for 3 years. It has 124k on it so it's probably going to start needing some parts replaced.
