confused, just saw a horespowertv episode
i just watched a horsepowertv show where they converted a 93 tbi truck to efi? they showed em using a block off plate where regulator goes on tb,new manifold, fuel pump and chip all from edelbrock, i never saw them reinstall injectors or injector rails, so what the heck did they do and has anyone done this?

Sounds like the edelbrock MPFI kit that uses the stock TBI PCM, which is probably still running in TBI mode. Irony is that it actually supports MPFI and the correct high Z injectors if its set up properly.

I watched it as well. They used the old wires from the two injectors and connected those the new wires which connected to the 8 new injectors.

Not worth the $1200 to do that. And no you wouldn't be able to just drill some holes in the manifold and install injectors. If you are wanting more out of your TBI you can swap a 350 in for 1200 or cheaper(used). With $1200 you would be able to do alot more stuff to your motor and get more than the 24hp they got.

What really surprised me is that it baselined stock at only 145hp to the rear wheels especially for a 350 TBI. While they had all that disassembled they should of dropped a warmer cam in their and done some exhaust work. That would have netted some good power especially with the MPFI. My only question is if I were to add that on my Camaro, would tuning still be necesssary or as often than the regular TBI system?

The HP gain is not from the MPFI. It is from the tuning and the fact the intake is actually a single plain with tiny runners.
I can build as much HP on a 350 TBI, by burning a custom chip and installing a 1" open center TBI spacer.

This mod can be done for alot less with a 90+ TPI ECM or 93+ TBI PCM, intake, and standard MPFI injectors. The PCM also supports MPFI when set up properly so you can actually have it work the way it should. I didnt see the episode, but did the truck have the PCM or ECM?

Well it was a 93 so it was the first year for the electronically controlled 700r4, which got rid of the tv cable. So I am assuming it was a ecm due to the fact that they had to take the chip out and replace it with the one from Edelbrock and not just plug and play with a tuner.

For the price you can pickup a Vortec 350 long-block complete with the CSFI setup on top. Those can be driven the same way as any other MFPI injector. The TBI PCM will even control the linear EGR valve that is sticking out of the front of the Vortec intake.
The challenge would be rigging a TV cable up to the throttle linkage on the Vortec intake.

Re: confused, just saw a horespowertv episode
Instead of doing that Edelbrock MPFI, couldn't you just put a TPI manifold and fuel rails on instead and run it the same way.

It is not just that easy. If you look at the tech articles it will show you.
