Dual snorkel or open element?

I wanna keep a stock aperance but everybody says that the open element aircleaner makes the car sound better and perform better which is better Does anybody have dynomax headers i was wondering if they were any good i don't wanna pay edelbrock just for their name which is what you are doing when you get TES headers also which is better aerochamber or edelbrock mufflers?

If you search through old posts you will find this question addressed several times. Personally, I like open element. Dual snorkels look cool, but they are expensive unless you can get a good second-hand one or make your own. About the dynomax headers, I have no idea. I've seen them in Jeg's but they don't give you any info on them. I've even been to dynomax's website and still couldn't find anything. Some people love their TES headers and others wish they would have gone with SLP or some other kind. So, I'll leave that to the people with experience.

Neo, which cleaner is that? I recognize the top but is the whole thing available & do you think it would fit on a LG4 (1987) with stock carb? Thanks!

Personally I would go with a ramair box.
With an open element the car is breathing in hot air which actually decreases horsepower, mind you it's better than a single snorkel.Or you could go with a factory dual snorkel with a k&n element, their hard to find though.

Open element suck in tons more air than any of those. It improves it a lot and if it pulled nothing but cool air, it would be the best option. From what I've seen, it still produces about the same as a ramair box without the cool intake.

If you have a cowl induction hood, you'll pull lots of cool air in. Something I was thinking about, put the hose portion back on the car and leave it near the open element, and it will get some cold air that way also. And you could run it on both sides. I don't know of anyone who's done that, and I wonder if it actually works.

The open element might be able to pull more air looking at maximum capacity, but it would take a monster motor to need the full capacity of a 14"x3" open element. Car Craft ran a set of back to back tests with a pretty souped-up drag car with no air cleaner, a 14"x3" open, and the dual 4" snorkel ram-air-box. The ram air box ran faster than either of the other two by .2 second. Using the standard .1 sec. = 10 h.p. that comes out to twenty horses over the others.

What ram air box would this be. Sounds cool to me if it has been tested like that.

The best way to go is to get air from as far away from the engine as posible, a dual snokel and some well placed air hosetubing work well for me. Alot of air does a engine good but not if its all hotair.
